Hobby Expo 2014 Report and Galleries

We had a great time at the Hobby Expo on Saturday, Feb. 15!

Where else could you go to see hundreds of scale models, car racing, boat racing, plane flying, running trains, fighting robots, Star Wars characters, Iron Man, play games, build LEGOs, and more!

Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, Feb. 21st, 2015 when we will do it all again.

Here are some highlights:

  • The Casa Grande Tennis Team raised over $900 running the snack bar.
  • The IPMS of Sonoma County (the Expo host) reported their best ever results for vendor participation and raffle prizes.
  • The San Francisco Model Yacht Club held a Victoria Class sailboat race at the Expo for the first time.

The Bay Area Engine Modelers put on quite a display. A large scale brass locomotive by the Bay Area Engine Modelers. Kids got a chance to fight robots with Bot Bash Parties. The Scale RC Crawlers Club showed off their rigs. The Fantasy Modelers Club had a scary display. A wicked witch diorama from the Fantasy Modelers Club. Emmett displayed helicopters and quad copters at the Fundemonium booth. The North Bay Gaming Group ran a fun event where armed flying saucers raced around a course and tried to shoot each other down. Members of the North Bay Gaming Group get excited about their game tactics. The Redwood Empire Ground Pounders had two tables full of radio controlled race cars. Brian mans the Fundemonium Kid's Build during the LEGO build. The Victoria Racing Fleet from the S.F. Model Yacht Club. The first ever sailboat race at Hobby Expo was dubbed the Petaluma Palm. This is the first place trophy. Winning skippers of the Petaluma Palm.<div>First Place:  Michael Fischer</div><div>Second: Jim Hartney</div><div>Third: Ed Schoenstein.<br /></div> More ships diaplayed by the S.F. Model Yacht Club. The Sonoma County Boaters Club displayed many power boats. People check out the Sonoma County Boat Club display. The Western Warships Combat Club fights real battles with their radio controlled ships. Wine Country Flyers were back with an impressive number of planes and quads. Wine Country Modelers brought custom cars and hot rods. Here are some more hot rods from Wine Country Modelers. Even Iron Man (as envisioned by Shawn Thorsson) was there!
